Non rectangular zones possible?

Post by RockitFX »

Hello,

Is there a way to create zones that are not simple rectangles? Perhaps other shapes, like an L, or circular? I'm aware that I can create groups of fixtures this way, but I'm looking for more control than just dimming. For example: I have a rectangular LED ceiling that has a chandelier coming through. I'd like to create a circular zone around the chandelier that can be controlled separately from the rest of the ceiling. Please let me know if this is possible, thanks!

Cheers,

Eric

Hi Eric,

MADRIX builds a bounding box around the fixtures, when creating a fixture group:
- MADRIX uses the bounding box of the fixture group with only its largest dimensions in X, Y, and Z. All effects inside the bounding box will be included for the rendering calculation.
- In your case a workaround could be to bring the fixtures to another Z-layer in the Patch Editor. For instance place all fixtures for the ceiling on z-layer 1 and the ones for the chandelier on z-layer 2. Now you can create corresponding fixture groups in order to display different content.
